Why this matters

Open Animations in the video editor to compose your first Match cut. Choose a word or phrase, then paste passages from your script, articles or notes. Your phrase stays centered inside a continuous paragraph, with the same font, size and weight as its surrounding text. The view cuts between closely cropped passages while a highlight steadily reveals from left to right, finishing just before the clip ends. Short passages continue with your other supplied text to fill the frame. Curved pages, softer peripheral text and shaded corners keep attention on the words in focus. Editorial, Archive and Studio offer different paper and type treatments. Start with the golden marker, choose another preset or pick a custom highlight color. Use Speed to slow down or speed up the page changes from 0.25× to 2×; the cut sounds follow that rhythm. Duration sets the length of the clip and its highlight reveal. Preview with sound, adjust the volume or turn sound effects off, then add the animation. The clip includes its sound in video exports and can be moved, trimmed or muted on the Video+ timeline.

Portraits and automatic placement

Puppet portrait turns a photograph into an expressive cutout with a springy head tilt, gestures when the arms are visible, a colored glow and a fine halftone texture. The camera moves closer before a name or short phrase types onto the scene. Find a public figure by name or upload a portrait, then choose the text, glow color, motion, texture, background dimming and sound volume. You can also replace the background photograph. Photo source information stays with the portrait, and Creative Commons photo credits appear in its rendered clip. Auto from narration works across the video: it looks for clearly identified people and recurring or quoted phrases, uses spoken word timings when available, and otherwise estimates placement within the narrated cut. Existing visual layers are respected. Unsuitable photos, ambiguous names and moments without enough room are skipped. Each video can contain at most two puppet portraits and two match cuts, including clips already added. Finished animations remain on Video+ if you cancel the rest of an automatic run.

How to use it

  1. Open Animations

    In the video editor, move the playhead onto a cut and open Animations.

  2. Create a portrait

    Choose Puppet portrait. Enter the person's name and choose Find portrait, or use Upload portrait. Select a result to prepare the cutout.

  3. Shape the moment

    Set Text to reveal, Text starts at, Puppet motion and the glow color. Adjust the background, texture, camera push and Sound effects, then use Play preview and Add animation.

  4. Let narration place the effects

    Choose Auto from narration, select Match cut, Puppet portrait or both, and choose Create automatically.

  5. Refine the timeline

    Review the new Video+ clips. Move, trim or adjust their sound as needed.
